OneSignal review and pricing

The freemium default for web push and mobile push.

By OneSignal, Inc. · Founded 2014 · San Mateo, CA · private

OneSignal is the most widely adopted push notification platform in the world, primarily on the back of an aggressive free tier that covers most SMB and mid-market use cases at zero monthly cost. The product covers web push, iOS push, Android push, email, SMS, and in-app messaging from a single dashboard, with SDKs that integrate in hours. OneSignal raised a $50M Series C in September 2021. The 2023 pricing reset (tightening of the free tier and introduction of higher paid floors) created some user backlash on Reddit and G2, but the broad freemium adoption pipeline has continued. For any team starting from zero on push, OneSignal is still the default first install.

Best for

SMB to mid-market teams adding push (web or mobile) as a new channel and wanting freemium pricing, fast setup, and broad SDK coverage.

Worst for

Enterprise consumer apps needing deep multi-channel lifecycle orchestration (use Braze), or mobile-app teams needing best-in-class behavioral analytics (use MoEngage or CleverTap).
